My name is Jakara Kemp. I am currently a sophomore at Gentry High School, which has an academic rating of C. Overall, our school district has a rating of a B for the 3rd year in a row with NO FAILING schools. We are growing, and maintaining academic excellence. https://www.mdek12.org/OPR/Reporting/Accountability/2024: Still StandingI interviewed school representative, Madison White the current Miss Gentry. When asked how did she feel about the school’s recent rating, she mentioned that the school’s rating is okay, but it has the potential to be much better. According to Madison, many intelligent students at Gentry High have the potential to excel. I completely agree with Madison; Gentry High has the potential to be an A-rated school with its exceptional students. Madison suggested that students should focus more and avoid distractions to maintain and improve academic excellence. When I asked about what teachers can do to maintain and improve academic excellence, Madison suggested making lessons more engaging by incorporating games or hands-on activities to better engage students, as traditional methods can be tiring and draining for both.
