Representatives from several institutions attended, including Alcorn State University (#AlwaysAlcorn), Jackson State University, Mississippi Valley State University, Delta State University, The University of Southern Mississippi, The University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University, Mississippi University for Women, Mississippi Delta Community College, LeMoyne-Owen College, Rust College, and Millsaps College.
Seniors Likerrius Jackson and Charity Love had the opportunity to speak with Ms. Scott from Alcorn State University about updating their college applications from high school dual enrollment status to first-time freshman applicants.
“Talking with Ms. Scott really helped me understand the application process better,” said Likerrius.
“I feel more confident now about applying to college and excited about what’s ahead,” added Charity.
Meanwhile, seniors Daitryk Richard and Jaylen Turner spoke with representatives from Mississippi Valley State University about the steps toward getting accepted and had the special opportunity to talk with one of the school’s alumni band members.
“It was great hearing firsthand about the college experience and the band program,” said Daitryk.
Jaylen shared, “Speaking with a former band member really inspired me and made me want to be part of Mississippi Valley’s tradition.”
Many other Gentry High School seniors also took advantage of the event to connect with recruiters, gather materials, and even start their applications. The Senior College Fair was a tremendous success, motivating students to take the next step toward achieving their educational and career goals.
